Hey Nouri program
Hey Nouri is a comprehensive virtual program for kids and teens who struggle with weight. We combine expert coaching, a habit-building app, and medical care including GLP1 medications when needed. Our model is based on hospital-grade programs but designed to be accessible, family-friendly, and delivered at home.
The program is modeled after specialty care programs, and most families stay for 6–12 months. There’s no fixed limit — we’re here as long as it helps. After the structured phase, some choose ad-hoc check-ins.
Nutrition is just one piece. Nouri combines behavioral support, activity & movement guidance, family support, and medical care — all designed specifically for kids and teens.
Licensed Registered Dietitians and behavioral specialists with expertise in pediatric psychology and habit-building science. They focus on practical behavior change, activity & movement guidance, not just nutrition advice.
All of our Coaches are experienced in working with children suffering from obesity and know how to support your whole family.
Yes. Nouri follows American Academy of Pediatrics and other established pediatric guidelines.
We have taken all learnings form specialist clinics and have worked with dozens of specialists from Pediatric Endocrinologists to Obesity Doctors to Child Psychologists to make Hey Nouri the gold standard of obesity health care.
Medications
Yes, but only when appropriate. Prescriptions are made by pediatric endocrinologists after a full evaluation. (Ozempic itself isn’t approved for kids, but similar medications such as Wegovy and Saxenda may be used.)
No. Most succeed with coaching and habits alone. Medication is only added if clinically appropriate. Let us know if you are interested in discussing medication.
Our Pediatric Endocrinologists will discuss elgibility and risks with you and never push you to make a choice you are not comfortable with.
Many isurances require lifestyle interventions before prescribing medication and Hey Nouri can support you on documentaiton as well.
Without coverage, GLP-1s can cost over $500/month. We help families with all insurance paperwork, and if insurance doesn’t cover medications, we support finding affordability programs.
Our Insurance Leads will work with you to get coverage and find cheap alternatives or better payment modalities if that is not an option.
Logistics
Typical structure (varies by family and exact age): For kids ages 1–11, sessions are parent-focused, with some joint parent-kid sessions. For teens ages 12–18, sessions are teen-focused with separate parent check-ins.
Weekly 1-on-1 sessions (30–45 min) plus app use in between (5-10 min per day). Parents also join sessions or check-ins depending on the child’s age.
Our Approach
We focus on building healthy habits and confidence first. As kids build healthier routines, weight changes naturally follow. We combine medication when appropriate.
Our approach is grounded in body neutrality: focusing on health, confidence, and habits that stick. We use positive, respectful language, and teach families to reframe food as fuel for growth, learning, and joy. We don’t count calories or have “never foods".
We use a simple, color-coded system inspired by MyPlate: Always Foods (vegetables, fruits, water), Fuel Foods (proteins, grains, legumes, dairy), and Pause Foods (sweets, fried foods, sugary drinks). Pause Foods are enjoyed mindfully — not banned — helping kids learn balance without restriction.
Our coaches use evidence-based behavioral therapy techniques like goal-setting, habit-stacking, and motivational interviewing. We help kids shift from negative self-talk and comparison traps to building confidence, expressing emotions in healthy ways, and creating routines that last.
At Nouri, mindset is core. We help kids and families build resilience, confidence, and a healthier relationship with their body. We treat emotions as signals, not failures — teaching skills to reframe thoughts, regulate stress, and set meaningful goals.
Our program is designed with psychologists to reduce risk. We emphasize body confidence and healthy habits, without calorie restriction or weight shaming. If concerns arise, we adjust the plan and connect families to extra support.
We developed Nouri’s 4-Step Habit Path with pediatricians and behavioral therapists — built on what truly works for kids and teens. The steps: Readiness, Small Steps, Reinforcement, and Stickiness. It’s a proven system to help kids build confidence and lasting routines. We use positive reinforcement — fun challenges, peer support, and non-food rewards — to help kids stay engaged. We expect setbacks and teach kids to normalize them as part of the process. This builds resilience and keeps habits sustainable.
Eligibility
Hey Nouri is for all kids and teens ages 1–18 who struggle with weight. Support is personalized based on age, health history, and family needs.
We do accept patients that also have other conditions such as Diabetes, NAFLD/MASLD, Hypertension, mental health disorders etc. We do not treat any mental health disorders and our coaching focuses on getting to a mindset that can support weight loss
Yes. Coaches use behavioral strategies to support kids through picky eating, stress eating, and emotional eating in a positive way.
Picky Eating is a common issue for children with weight issues, similarly to nutritional deficiencies. Our Coaches are trained in proven techniques to broaden your child's palate and can help you create new rules for your family.
Absolutely. Many kids start that way. Our coaches use fun tools and small wins to build motivation step by step. We often work first to understand your child's motivation and challenges and then build a plan together step-by-step.
This enables our Coaches to create long-term accountability and help get your child through plateaus and roguh patches.
Insurance & Billing
In most cases, yes — many families are covered. We bill common nutrition and behavioral health codes and confirm coverage before you start. You will never get a surprise bill from us and we will alays check with you before charging any co-pays.
